  • Dewar increase not detected

The LN2 tank is empty during refilling. Replace the tank. Close the ‘Vent’ and ‘Liquid’ valves on the empty tank -> Move the hoses from the empty tank to the new tank, make sure to connect to the correct outlets (Vent to Vent and Liquid to Liquid) -> Open the valves on the new tank fully.

Go to State tab in the flap-out of Temperature Control -> click Recover -> Select All Nitrogen Tempeture in the information area. Refilling should resume.

  • Power cycle K3. Retracting K3 fails; DM temperature control error; No Sync Aquisition error; or camera status notification server error and no camera controller (EFCCD disappears).

Close DM, verify it is not running in task manager; Power off K3 powersupply in the Gatan instrument cabinet by touching the glowing G icon, unplug the power cable (pull the slider on the sides to unlock it) in the back to prevent automatic restart; (when necessary, shut down Gatan PC); wait a few minutes; (if Gatan PC is shut down, boot it up and log into Windows. Must log into Windows before switching on the K3 powersupply); Plug in the power cable. Power on K3 powersupply by touching and holding the G icon; wait 5 minutes, confirm four green lights, if only one green light, power off and try again; start DM. Check the detector temperature in Camera monitor in DM, wait till it reaches -20C, then insert camera and test it.

Note: Gatan PC cannot be rebooted alone, you must power cycle the K3 powersupply together. However, K3 powersupply may be power cycled alone without shutting down the Gatan PC.

  • Reboot Titan PC

If the PC is responding, but the Titan UI is not responding, first try to kill and restart the UI. If it fails, close all programs, then reboot the PC through windows software. If the rebooting process gets stuck for an extended period of time, then you need to switch off the power on the PC box. Open the front door, locate a rocker switch, switch it to the off position and hold for ~5 sec until the power is off. Wait for 3 min, switch it back on (no need to hold). Log-in information is shared with selected authorized users. After windows starts, start the Tem Server, Titan UI and other programs through microscope software launcher (check the notes on Tem server crash above). Turn on High Tension, initialize autoloader if necessary.
